The History Of Safety Vests
The creator of safety vests or high visibility clothing is Bob Switzer. The idea arose in his mind after his accident at the workplace. He lost his eyesight during this unfortunate incident and became handicapped for life.
His dream was to become a medical professional, but it remained unfulfilled. After this unlucky incident, Mr. Switzer wanted to do something for the safety of other workers. It led to the creation of safety vests later on.
Mr. Switzer’s brother Joe gave him a helping hand to complete this mission. Joe was already researching on the topic of fluorescent chemicals at that time. Both the brothers used their share of knowledge and, after many experiments, produced a fluorescent paint called “Day-Glo.” This paint kept on shining and glowing in the dark.

The Impact Of World War II In Rising The Popularity Of Reflective Material
The “Day-Glow” became a popular chemical in due course of time. It was especially true during WWII. The US Army was going through a hard time locating their own as well as the fellow soldiers’ position at night. Therefore, the US government decided to adapt to the creation of the Switzer brothers on the uniform of soldiers. This decision was a good one and is still an essential part of the soldiers’ uniform even today.
